Description:
The third full-length from Mina Tindle, SISTER is an album populatedby mythic creatures of all kinds: lions on parade, lovers turned tocannibals, kings and Sirens and women with wings. Like any greatfabulist, she threads her storytelling with a fragile wisdom, revealingessential truths about all the danger and wildness within the humanheart. With each moment elevated by her spellbinding vocal work agift shes shown in recording and touring as a singer for The National SISTER ultimately makes for a transportive listen, at turnsimpossibly dreamlike and profoundly illuminating.Mina Tindle is the project of Parisian singer/songwriter and multiinstrumentalistPauline De Lassus. Mostly made in New York City withproducer Thomas Bartlett (Yoko Ono, Florence + the Machine), thealbums elegant detail balances the odd magic of the songs with afierce emotional realism. Give a Little Love, written and produced bySufjan Stevens, channels intense longing, its soulful melancholymagnified by Stevenss warm background vocals. On BellePnitence, she shares a tender love letter to her husband (TheNationals Bryce Dessner), twisting the mood of lovely surrender withsome fantastically brutal hunting imagery rendered in her nativetongue. And on Lions, with its shimmering grooves, De Lassus offersup a bit of soft-hearted encouragement in the face of self-doubt: Ifthe roads are made for a parade/Go march with the lions. She adds,You need to keep going, even if sometimes you feel like youre justpretending to be brave. Its all about the march.
