Arguably the most important figure in country music Willie Nelson is set to release his next studio album, which is a tribute to one of his best friends and long-time musical fellow travelers Merle Haggard. It features Willie doing 11 Hag classics including Mama Tried, Okie From Muskogee and I Think Ill Just Stay here And Drink and also features the final recordings that Willie did with longtime band members Sister Bobbie and Paul English. The album coincides with a new documentary on Merle Haggard co-directed by Ethan Hawke that will debut at the Telluride Film Festival n late August, which features Willie as a main talking head. For which a wider release is TBC.

Undoubtedly, the most prolific musician today, this release is set to be Willies 155th album according to Texas Monthly! And alongside his album drops which have amassed over 3.3B all time streams Willie recently appeared on Cowboy Carter and was praised by Beyonc as The Great Willie! You are the coolest! The latest release from The Great Willie is available from Friday 07th November on CD and LP
